Today
computers are in the form of personal desktop computers, laptops and tablets
have become such an important part of life. The computer invented
more than 70 years back but is still new technology.
The first computer in
history was developed in 1944. This computer was used only for calculations and
weighed five tons; this machine is called the Mark I.
The first generation of
computers was developed from 1940 to 1956 and was extremely large in size.
These machines required magnetic drums for memory storage and vacuum tubes that
worked as switches and amplifiers due to vacuum tube the size of the machine is
very large and produce heat, these computer uses vary basic programming
language called machine language.
From 1956 to 1963 of
computers managed to do away with vacuum tubes is replaces with transistors.
Due to this less electricity is required and generate less heat will be
generated, these computers also called second-generation computers and size
well smaller. With the help of Transistor computers also developed
core memory which they used along with magnetic storage.
From 1964 to 1971 in
computers significant changes in terms of speed, courtesy of integrated
circuits. In this period the Integrated circuits or semiconductor chips are
used, this not only increased the speed of computers but also made them
smaller, more powerful, and less expensive.
From 1971 to 2010.
During this time technology developed the manufacturers could place millions of
transistors on a single circuit chip. This was called monolithic integrated
circuit technology.
During this period the
Intel 4004 chip which was the first microprocessor to become commercially
available in 1971. From the middle of the 70s, personal computers such as the
Altair 8800 is available to the public in the form of kits. By the late 70s and
early 80s assembled personal computers for home use are available in the
market, such as the Commodore Pet, Apple II, and the first IBM computer Personal computers and their ability
to create networks eventually would lead to the Internet in the early 1990s the
personal computer having the ability to create a network that leads to the
internet this fourth-generation even smaller computers including laptops and
hand-held devices. The graphical user interface, or GUI, was also invented
during this time.
Computer memory and
storage were the major improvements, with an increase in storage capacity and
speed. As there is a
number of paths that technology is taking toward the future of computer
development now a day’s people using Smartphone’s, laptops and many more
gadgets are all related to modern computer technology.
